Things have been busy on the other side of the site, characters being drawn left right and centre. A very busy November/December has meant nothing on the Feilo front, but I managed to knock one up tonight.

I love this coat. I bought it 2 years ago and it weighs around 12kg. It’s insulated with duck-down and putting it on feels like wearing a duvet, it’s awesome.

The Tube strike made for a maddening afternoon of walking mile after foot-chafing mile across London, but thankfully the Northern line still worked and we made it in time. There was some great pieces on display, with special mentions going out to Jonathan McHugh, Chris Hauhton and Kathryn Spreadbury for their amazing pieces. Feilo just missed out on a Bronze award (according to sources at the AOI) but drank enough free Fullers “Honey Beer” not to care tooooo much.

The exhibition is open to the public until the 14th of September, so get down there if you haven’t already.

Illustrators are invited to submit works to a jury panel of judges that decide who is worthy enough to be included in that years IMAGES Illustration annual. Feilo is proud to announce that both Libido and The Escape have made it into IMAGES 34 in the “Self Promotion” category. Libido will be shown at the IMAGES 34 Exhibition at the London College of Communication, Elephant and Castle, SE1 6SB from 7th September, to 14th September 2010. Feilo is a departure, something a little different, a little more niche and a little darker. It’s a new style for me, having evolved out of a desire to do something a little more “serious” and to get away from grinning characters and bright, friendly colours. These pieces are intended to be highly stylised, so I’m going to try and stick to a very limited palette, shades of grey and red, that’s it. As far as self-initiated pieces go, there’ll be a lot of repeating themes, the ADIDAS tracksuit being a current fav, which definitely had a part to play in the choosing of a limited palette for this style.

Have a sniff around and enjoy.
